Writers Guild of Canada members vote yes to extend the IPA for another year. The deal is simple and very good for all of us:

a 3% increase in almost all minimum Script Fees, and an across-the-board 3% increase on all Production Fees.

I’ve sat on many an IPA negotiating committee and on the WGC council for many years. I can tell you this; there’s only one true raise and that’s a raise on Production Fees. And that’s what this deal gives us.

If ratified, this deal will extend the other terms of the current IPA until December 31, 2009. By then, we’ll be ready to go back to the bargaining table to try to make some gains in areas like animation.
